Wireless communication device and method for spectrum monitoring based on dynamic configuration of RF front-end
Abstract
A wireless communication device for spectrum monitoring includes an RF front-end and a processor that adjusts operational parameters of the RF front-end to process received RF signals to obtain digitized down-converted signals that include spectrum data. The RF front-end generates a hardware interrupt signal when a defined spectrum monitoring event is detected. Based on the hardware interrupt signal, a first processing path is initiated to transfer the spectrum data to a memory via a direct memory access operation. Based on the hardware interrupt signal, a second processing path is concurrently initiated to perform signal analysis on the spectrum data and extract spectral features. The processor executes a signal classification operation on the extracted spectral features and re-adjust the plurality of operational parameters of the RF front-end based on results from the executed signal classification operation.
